About the role
Catholic Charities of Long Island seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals to provide person‑centered care for developmentally disabled adults in residential group homes. The role involves supporting residents in daily activities, promoting skill development, and ensuring their safety during outings and at home.
Key responsibilities
- Transport and safeguard residents on outings.
- Coach residents in skill development and administer medications.
- Provide personal care and support as needed.
- Perform household tasks, including meal preparation and maintenance.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid New York State driver’s license.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, crouching, and two‑person lifting up to 250 lb.
- Capability to maintain personal safety and respond calmly to physical or emotional outbursts.
