About the role
Catholic Charities of Long Island seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals to provide person‑centered care for developmentally disabled residents in a group home setting. You will help residents lead dignified lives while supporting their daily activities and personal growth.
Key responsibilities
- Transport and safeguard residents during outings.
- Coach residents in skill development and administer medications.
- Provide personal care and perform household tasks, including meal preparation.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid New York State driver’s license.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, crouching, and two‑person lifts up to 250 lb.
- Capability to remain calm and non‑confrontational during resident outbursts.
What we offer
- Base pay of $21 per hour (weekend differential adds $1 per hour).
- Flexible scheduling options including evenings, overnight, early mornings, and weekend day shifts.
