Diesel Mechanic

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a full‑time Diesel Mechanic for its Syracuse, NY Service Center. The role works the 3rd shift (1:00 am – 11:30 am, Monday‑Friday) and offers immediate PTO and access to employee resorts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day equipment maintenance on the fleet, including preventative maintenance and minor to major repairs.
• Service Class 8 trucks, trailers, and potentially forklifts, as well as related equipment such as overhead doors, lift gates, dollies, and welding tasks.

Required profile

• 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience (preferred).
• Experience in preventive maintenance and major repairs on diesel engines.
• Familiarity with AC and electrical systems.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and must provide own tools.

Required skills

• Diesel engine maintenance and preventive maintenance.
• AC system repair.
• Electrical system troubleshooting.
• Experience with Cummins and Detroit engines.
• Proficiency with the Cetaris work‑order system.
• Trailer maintenance and repair.
• Welding.
