Department Head – Computer Science

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith is seeking a senior academic leader to serve as Department Head for its Computer Science program. This full‑time, on‑campus position oversees all aspects of the department, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment, research initiatives, and student success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic vision and operational leadership for the Computer Science department.
• Manage faculty hiring, evaluation, promotion, and professional development.
• Oversee curriculum design, accreditation, and continuous improvement of academic programs.
• Foster research collaborations, grant acquisition, and community partnerships.
• Ensure effective budgeting, resource allocation, and compliance with university policies.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Significant experience in higher‑education leadership, preferably as a department chair or senior faculty member.
