About the role
The Dean for Academic Affairs – General Education leads the academic department, ensuring high‑quality instruction, regulatory compliance, and student success. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean drives continuous improvement, accreditation readiness, and alignment with institutional goals.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision for academic programs, faculty, and staff within the department.
- Ensure compliance with state standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional policies.
- Lead curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, credentialing, scheduling, and evaluation of faculty.
- Support student enrollment, advising, retention, and completion in partnership with Student Affairs.
- Manage the department budget, resources, facilities, and instructional materials.
- Analyze data and prepare reports to support strategic planning and institutional effectiveness.
- Promote academic programs and build partnerships with business, industry, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate advisory committee activities and ensure alignment with workforce needs.
- Maintain accurate record‑keeping, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Required profile
- Proven senior academic leadership experience, preferably as a dean or department head.
- Strong knowledge of accreditation standards, state regulations, and higher‑education best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to develop curricula, evaluate programs, and implement improvement plans.
- Experience managing faculty recruitment, development, and performance evaluation.
- Track record of supporting student success initiatives and retention strategies.
- Fiscal stewardship experience, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Excellent data‑driven decision‑making and reporting skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
