Data Scientist, Policy

About the role

Anthropic is looking for its first Data Scientist dedicated to policy work. In this role you will translate product usage and survey data into clear evidence that helps the Policy team shape positions, demonstrate relevance to legislators and regulators, and measure the impact of Anthropic’s AI systems.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product and business teams to create analyses and data collateral for policy position papers and partnership discussions.
• Identify and define metrics that accurately represent Anthropic to legislators, regulators, and the public.
• Own dashboards and data pipelines that keep externally‑shared numbers consistent and up‑to‑date.
• Use AI‑driven tools to aggregate news, policy developments, and public data, tracking regulatory trends.
• Develop measurement frameworks for policy communications, paid media, and public‑affairs campaigns.
• Design and implement policy analyses to support internal position development or evaluate the impact of policy implementation for external audiences.

Required profile

• Proficiency in Python, SQL and data analysis tools, with experience handling external and public data sources.
• Track record of producing analysis for external audiences such as policy, communications, investor relations, public affairs or published research.
• Applied causal‑inference experience using quasi‑experimental designs (difference‑in‑differences, regression discontinuity, synthetic control, instrumental variables, matching).
• Ability to translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for audiences with varying technical fluency.
