Data Entry Clerk (Patent Cooperation Treaty)

About the role

This full‑time position supports the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) department by reviewing bibliographic data and entering it into USPTO systems. The role requires high accuracy and the ability to manage multiple systems simultaneously.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bibliographic data review for PCT applications and enter data into the USPTO system following established procedures.
• Operate the Madras system, Pre‑exam, international bibliographic data web, and POWER systems concurrently to capture required information.
• Mail out national and international applications using USPTO procedures and the above systems.
• Conduct quality reviews to ensure applications are mailed on the same day they are processed.
• Generate production, backlog, and error status reports as required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow safety, fire, and health regulations.
• Provide backup support for the night‑shift Customer Service Window when needed.

Required profile

• At least one year of clerical/administrative experience.
• High school diploma; English speaking, reading, and excellent written comprehension.
• Accurate typing skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to undergo a background investigation and complete a twelve‑week training period.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the MS Windows operating environment.
• Experience using USPTO data entry systems.
• Familiarity with the Madras system, Pre‑exam system, international bibliographic data web, and POWER system.
