Data Analyst – BioMMed (Part‑time)

About the role

The WAE Data Analyst 1 will support the LSU Division of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine (BioMMed) by providing data science, bioinformatics, and machine learning expertise to faculty, researchers, and trainees. This part‑time position focuses on organizing, analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting biomedical datasets and coordinating computational resources.

Key responsibilities

• Provide data science, machine‑learning, and bioinformatics support for biomedical research projects, including preprocessing, quality assessment, statistical analysis, and visualization of genomic, transcriptomic, sequencing, imaging, and clinical data.
• Coordinate data‑science activities across BioMMed projects, track requests, priorities, and deliverables, and facilitate communication among investigators, lab staff, and computational teams.
• Contribute technical content for manuscripts, proposals, and reports, and generate figures, tables, and preliminary analyses.
• Develop workshops, tutorials, and training materials; offer consultation and troubleshooting for users of BioMMed computational resources.
• Maintain documentation of workflows, scripts, datasets, and computational resources, promoting reproducibility and proper data‑management practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with at least 2 years of relevant experience in data science, bioinformatics, or computational biology.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
