D2 Metrology Equipment Technician

About the role

NXP is hiring a D2 Metrology Equipment Technician in Austin. The selected candidate performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in the ATMC Metrology Equipment area, keeping wafer fabrication metrology tools running and improving their performance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, upgrade and monitor wafer fabrication metrology equipment, including 4-point probes, atomic force microscopy, CDSEM, CD Verity, film thickness tools (KLA UVxxPIN) and defect inspection tools (KLA 8100, SP1, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic, pneumatic and mechanical systems, perform scheduled maintenance and change consumables
• Complete documentation and train others on equipment maintenance
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and interact with Operations and Engineering teams

Required profile

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the semiconductor industry; an AA degree in Electronics or a related discipline with 5 years of technical maintenance experience may also be acceptable
• At least 5 years of experience in the Metrology/Defect area
• AS or AAS in electronics or another industrial engineering field, or equivalent experience
• Able to stand for long periods (up to 10 hours), occasionally stoop or crawl in confined spaces, and lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds

Required skills

• Solid understanding of SPC and FDC, and ability to use them to improve equipment performance
• Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interface with internal and external groups to meet safety, performance and reliability requirements
