Cyclic General Maintenance Worker – Fort Jackson

About the role

EMI Services is seeking a Cyclic General Maintenance Worker to join the Fort Jackson team. You will perform routine and corrective maintenance on buildings, equipment, and machinery across multiple trades, ensuring the installation remains safe, functional, and well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Replace broken hardware in barracks rooms, signage, electrical receptacles, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
• Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures.
• Repair defective equipment parts, reassemble machinery, and perform preventive maintenance.
• Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical components, pipe systems, and HVAC equipment.
• Order parts and supplies from catalogs or storerooms as needed.
• Perform general cleaning of buildings and properties.
• Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in building or utility trades, or formal vocational/technical training.
• Valid driver’s license compliant with the REAL ID Act (or willingness to obtain one).

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools (hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches).
• Use of precision measuring instruments and electrical/electronic testing devices.
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical wiring in commercial/industrial settings.
• Ability to read and follow building codes and safety regulations.
• Competence in preventive maintenance and equipment repair.
• Proper use of PPE and adherence to workplace safety practices.
