Customer Engineer – PDC (SEM Inspection & Metrology)

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading PDC SEM‑based inspection systems. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment and ensure optimal performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade Applied Materials PDC SEM inspection systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment using standard diagnostics, escalating to senior engineers when needed.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electron‑beam, vacuum, electrical, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Support customers in improving defect inspection performance and yield.
• Communicate directly with customers to ensure tool uptime and performance, coordinating with internal teams on process flows and inspection requirements.

Required profile

• Associate degree or technical training (Bachelor’s preferred) with 4–7 years of semiconductor equipment support experience.
• Experience with SEM tools or e‑beam inspection systems and strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of vacuum systems, electron‑beam fundamentals, and precision motion systems.
• Basic understanding of semiconductor processes, defect and yield concepts.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
