Custodian – Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Custodian ensures the cleanliness and proper upkeep of South Georgia Technical College facilities, supporting a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain overall care of college buildings and facilities.
• Perform routine cleaning, replace bathroom supplies and light bulbs.
• Move and arrange furniture, set up chairs, tables, podiums for events.
• Maintain and service custodial tools and equipment.
• Collect and dispose of trash throughout the campus.
• Perform other assigned duties related to facility upkeep.

Required profile

• Knowledge of custodial tools, methods, safety guidelines, and college policies.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Physical ability to push, pull, stoop, kneel, stand 4‑8 hours and lift up to 49 lb.
• Pass criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening.
• High school diploma or GED; six months related experience preferred.

Required skills

• Operation of carpet and floor cleaning machines.
• Use of standard custodial cleaning tools and supplies.
