About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety is seeking a full‑time Crime Prevention Specialist to design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs across multiple campus sites. The role serves as the primary investigator for security‑related incidents and works closely with internal departments and external law‑enforcement partners to protect students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and launch crime‑prevention initiatives tailored to campus and surrounding community needs.
- Conduct safety audits, environmental assessments, and vulnerability analyses.
- Analyze crime data and trends to guide resource allocation and prevention strategies.
- Coordinate with local police, emergency services, and community groups to strengthen collaborative safety efforts.
- Deliver presentations, workshops, and training sessions on theft prevention, personal safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Produce and disseminate crime alerts, safety bulletins, and educational materials.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of security technologies such as surveillance systems and access‑control devices.
- Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and after‑action reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of activities and prepare regular reports for leadership.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in crime prevention, public safety, or security management.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, conduct risk assessments, and develop actionable programs.
- Strong communication skills for training, outreach, and liaison activities.
- Ability to stay current on legislation, trends, and emerging threats.
