County Extension Agent – Family & Consumer Science

About the role

The County Extension Agent – Family & Consumer Science provides practical, community‑based education on nutrition, health, family well‑being, food safety, and financial stability. Working directly with county residents and volunteers, the agent supports and expands county extension programs that improve quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver educational workshops, demonstrations, and outreach events on nutrition, health, food safety, and financial management.
• Engage and coordinate volunteers and community partners to extend program reach.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the county’s social, economic, and political landscape.
• Serve as a liaison between the university extension service, local leaders, agencies, and government entities.
• Develop educational materials, publications, and digital content tailored to local needs.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of family and consumer science topics such as nutrition, health, and financial education.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Commitment to lifelong learning and staying current with extension best practices.
