County Director, Child Welfare Services

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Family & Children Services, is seeking a County Director 1 to lead Child Welfare Services in Millen, Jenkins County. This senior position oversees the administration of policies and programs that protect vulnerable children and families while promoting self‑sufficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Ensures agency compliance with policies, documentation, and reporting requirements.
• Builds a cooperative, team‑oriented environment within the unit and with external agencies and providers.
• Develops and administers the county budget for child welfare services.
• Directs hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, and discharge of social services staff.
• Manages human resources and administrative activities for social services employees.
• Reviews programs for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of supervisory experience in a human service delivery program or equivalent child welfare case‑management experience.
• Reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state‑issued driver’s license and an acceptable driving history.
