Correctional Officer – Central State Hospital (Milledgeville)

About the role

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seeks a dedicated Correctional Officer to support security operations at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, GA. You will help maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and state property within a behavioral health and forensic treatment setting.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds, buildings, parking areas, and other DBHDD‑owned properties.
• Control access points, screen visitors, vendors, contractors, and deliveries.
• Assist with secure admission, transfer, discharge, and movement of forensic patients.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, and other incidents.
• Support perimeter security, contraband prevention, and special security assignments.
• Complete incident reports, activity logs, and required documentation.
• Coordinate with hospital staff, DBHDD Police, and emergency responders.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications preferred.
• Ability to work under general supervision in a high‑stress environment.
• Strong observational and decision‑making abilities.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and respond to emergencies.
