About the role
The Cook Manager leads the food service program at a Buffalo school, overseeing food preparation, menu planning, and daily operations to ensure nutritious meals for students.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals on a moderate to large scale.
- Plan menus that meet federal, state, and local nutrition guidelines.
- Requisition foods and supplies and manage inventory.
- Supervise kitchen staff, food service helpers, and student workers.
- Oversee cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas.
- Maintain employee time records and simple inventory logs.
- Prepare and submit activity reports for the cafeteria.
Required profile
- Associate degree in Food Service Administration, Dietetic Technology, Nutrition, Restaurant Management, or related field, OR high school graduation with relevant experience.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in menu planning and supervise staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with children and adults.
- Physical condition suitable for kitchen duties.
Required skills
- Knowledge of approved food preparation methods.
- Understanding of nutritional values of foods.
- Experience with large‑scale food ordering and storage.
- Menu planning aligned with nutrition regulations.
