Cook Manager – School Food Service (Buffalo)

About the role

The Cook Manager leads the food service program at a Buffalo school, overseeing food preparation, menu planning, and daily operations to ensure nutritious meals for students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals on a moderate to large scale.
• Plan menus that meet federal, state, and local nutrition guidelines.
• Requisition foods and supplies and manage inventory.
• Supervise kitchen staff, food service helpers, and student workers.
• Oversee cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas.
• Maintain employee time records and simple inventory logs.
• Prepare and submit activity reports for the cafeteria.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Food Service Administration, Dietetic Technology, Nutrition, Restaurant Management, or related field, OR high school graduation with relevant experience.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in menu planning and supervise staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with children and adults.
• Physical condition suitable for kitchen duties.

Required skills

• Knowledge of approved food preparation methods.
• Understanding of nutritional values of foods.
• Experience with large‑scale food ordering and storage.
