Controls Service Technician III

About the role

Building Controls & Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Controls Service Technician III to lead start‑up, checkout, and troubleshooting of HVAC DDC and building automation systems. The role involves on‑site work at new construction and retrofit sites across Kansas and Western Missouri.

Key responsibilities

• Perform controls system inspections, service, and troubleshooting (≈60% of time).
• Load and update product licenses, firmware, panel programs, graphics, IP addresses, and hardware jumpers.
• Diagnose and resolve network, software, and hosted‑system issues.
• Start up and commission new HVAC DDC BACnet/IP control systems, documenting progress in checkout sheets.
• Conduct hardware I/O testing, alarm messaging verification, and system integration checks.
• Provide technical assistance, product demonstrations, and customer training.
• Migrate legacy P2 systems to BACnet and update as‑built documentation.
• Coach field technicians and share technical solutions with the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience with HVAC DDC and building automation start‑up and commissioning.
• Ability to work independently on complex programming strategies.
• Strong communication skills to relay technical updates to customers and internal teams.
• Willingness to stay current with emerging building technology.
