Controls Engineer

About the role

Bosch Charleston is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead software development, PLC programming, and IT infrastructure projects that support highly automated manufacturing processes. You will work on a variety of equipment, from CNC machines to robotic systems, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects for software development, PLC programming, and IT infrastructure implementation.
• Investigate, trial, and improve automated manufacturing processes.
• Set up machines and devices for investigations and testing.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, quality plans, process flow diagrams, and standard work instructions.
• Identify and resolve quality issues related to automated equipment.
• Mentor hourly skilled associates on proactive maintenance and training material development.
• Drive safety, cost, quality, delivery, and utilization improvement projects aligned with Policy Deployment objectives.
• Participate in daily management using MES and analytics to meet performance targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Controls, Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of technical experience in automated equipment technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with CNC machines, high‑pressure deburr, Kuka and Staubly robots, vision systems, and feeding systems.
• Ability to read and define electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings.
• Project leadership and strong self‑initiative in cross‑functional teams.
