Controller – Accounting & Finance Lead

About the role

Jacob & Co. is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and bookkeeping functions. Based in Midtown Manhattan, you will ensure accurate and timely financial records while mentoring a team of junior and senior accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee a team of four accountants.
• Manage accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Provide guidance to operating teams to ensure compliance with accounting rules.
• Maintain sales tax collection and filing processes.
• Lead the monthly close, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and global analysis.
• Coordinate annual financial statements under IFRS for subsidiaries.
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors and manage audit engagements.
• Oversee government reporting, due‑diligence for acquisitions, and special projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of professional accounting experience.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience in public accounting or luxury retail/wholesale is a plus.

Required skills

• QuickBooks (QB) proficiency.
• Microsoft Dynamics AX 365 experience.
• Microsoft Dynamics Business Central 365 experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting standards.
