Controller – $140-180K + Bonus

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead day‑to‑day financial operations for a well‑established, family‑founded services business in New York City. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will transition the finance function from outsourced support to an in‑house strategic hub.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the full accounts payable process, including vendor payments and invoice processing.
• Monitor and manage daily cash flow and banking activity.
• Maintain accurate books and records within QuickBooks.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for ownership.
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit‑card activity.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
• Partner with ownership on financial decision‑making and operational priorities.
• Introduce structure, processes, and controls as the business scales.

Required profile

• Strong QuickBooks experience.
• Prior Controller or senior accounting experience, preferably in a small or family‑owned business.
• Ability to own the finance function independently with minimal oversight.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Based in or around New York City with flexibility to work onsite 1‑2 days per week.
