Construction Inspector

About the role

Wilson Engineers, a respected Arizona‑based consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join its Tempe office. The role involves ensuring construction activities meet project plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes while supporting efficient project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand scope and technical requirements.
• Perform field observations and inspections to verify compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and codes.
• Manage review and coordination of submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
• Prepare accurate daily field reports documenting progress, site conditions, and issues.
• Serve as liaison between owners, contractors, and stakeholders to facilitate clear communication.
• Review contractor Schedule of Values and payment applications to support accurate billing.
• Monitor contractor schedules, identify risks, and help keep projects on track.
• Develop and manage punch lists to ensure timely project closeout.

Required profile

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in the construction industry, preferably as a Civil Construction Inspector or Field Engineer.
• Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is a plus.
• Knowledge of construction means & methods, quality control measures, and water/waste‑water construction is a plus.
• Proactive, self‑motivated individual able to meet challenging time constraints.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Required skills

• Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Microsoft Project and P6 Scheduling software (a plus).
• ICC Reinforced Concrete and/or AWS Certifications (a plus).
