Construction Inspector

About the role

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is looking for a Construction Inspector to support safety services across Class 1 railroads, regional short lines, transit systems and state DOT projects. The role involves extensive field work, travel to construction sites and collaboration with contractors and consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site inspections of civil construction projects such as grade‑separation, roadway paving, and utility work.
• Verify compliance with OSHA and railroad safety regulations.
• Review and interpret construction plans, specifications and as‑built drawings.
• Document findings, prepare reports and maintain organized records.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and internal teams to resolve safety issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in civil construction inspection, railroad work, or related fields.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while traveling up to 85% of the time.
