Construction Field Representative – Civil Engineering Projects

About the role

McGill Associates is seeking a Construction Field Representative to oversee and document the construction phase of civil engineering projects across North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. You will act as the on‑site liaison, ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents and keeping stakeholders informed of progress.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily site visits, accurately record construction activities, and file observation reports for each project.
• Communicate progress, issues, and updates to the Construction Administrator, contractors, and clients.
• Review and become familiar with contract documents, technical specifications, and front‑end documents.
• Address inquiries or complaints from residents and other affected parties.
• Support quality‑control procedures, documentation, and project close‑out activities.
• Assist with post‑construction services in accordance with contract requirements.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or technical school with at least 2 years of related experience, or a minimum of 4 years of relevant construction experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong time‑management, organizational, and mathematical skills for verifying quantities and costs.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple sites.
