Component Engineer – Strategic Microelectronics

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Component Engineer to support Strategic Microelectronics at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. The role provides component engineering support to the technologist team and advises military programs and designers on part selection.

Key responsibilities

• Support the technologist team, including writing technical reports
• Troubleshoot component technical issues and recommend solutions
• Interface with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, test labs and other government agencies
• Develop and review test plan documentation and provide life-cycle support of strategic systems
• Take part in DLA audits, JEDEC meetings and reviews of Military Performance Specifications and Test Methods
• Travel 25-50% of the time

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, preferably Electrical Engineering, and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent
• Component engineering experience focused on quality and reliability standards and IEEE parts
• Willingness to learn best design practices for IEEE parts
• Basic understanding of MIL-STD and ability to compare military, industry, commercial and automotive standards
• Ability to communicate with customers, program offices, colleagues and contractors
• Ability to write technical reports and understand basic electrical testing of IEEE parts
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

• Microsoft Excel, including complex functions
• Knowledge of IEEE parts standards and electrical testing of IEEE parts
