Compliance & Enforcement Officer

About the role

The Compliance & Enforcement Officer will be based in Boston, East Midlands, working Monday to Friday with travel to local sites across the region. A full driving licence and car allowance are required. The role supports a public‑sector organisation that manages critical infrastructure, environmental assets and flood risk, strengthening governance, regulatory compliance, risk management and organisational assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce land drainage laws and byelaws, ensuring public and commercial organisations have the necessary permissions for their development or activity.
• Manage the consent process for public and commercial planning applications in line with land drainage and town planning legislation.
• Ensure the organisation adheres to relevant governance policies and regulatory frameworks.
• Administer policies, background paperwork, and health and safety compliance for organisational activities.
• Work methodically and process‑driven, following internal controls and external regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in a public‑facing enforcement role such as housing, construction, planning, HSE, audit, food safety or environmental (desirable).
• Background in a heavily regulated environment or industry.
• Compliance or policy adherence monitoring experience, ideally within planning regulations.
• Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices on construction or land development sites.
• Sector experience in local government, infrastructure, utilities, environmental services, housing, engineering or other regulated sectors (helpful).
• Open to former Armed Forces personnel and service leavers.
