Companion/Buddy for People with Disabilities

About the role

Join BAYADA’s team on the Big Island as a Companion/Buddy (Direct Support Professional) and help individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities live more independent lives. This part‑time position offers flexible scheduling and a supportive clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Engage clients in their favorite hobbies, community activities, errands and social events.
• Provide personal care assistance and teach new skills with patience and encouragement.
• Transport clients to community outings and support their integration.
• Collaborate with clinical managers to enhance caregiving skills.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent and ability to read/write English.
• Minimum age of 18 and ability to transport clients.
• Compassionate, reliable and able to work flexible weekday and weekend hours.
