Commissioning Chief Engineer – Autonomous Vessel

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a licensed Chief Engineer to lead the commissioning of its mid‑size autonomous surface vessel, Marauder. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the engine room and all associated marine systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all required maintenance on vessel machinery and auxiliary equipment.
• Oversee engine‑room operations and remain on‑call while the vessel is underway.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and ordering.
• Create and maintain a planned maintenance schedule.
• Support shipboard execution of mission objectives and develop engineering processes prior to launch.
• Travel to multiple Gulf Coast locations as needed.

Required profile

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard MMC Chief Engineer, Unlimited Horsepower.
• STCW Basic Training and OICEW certification.
• Valid TWIC, USCG STCW Medical Certificate, and passport.
• Ability to pass background check, USCG/DOT drug testing, and hold required security clearance.
• Strong problem‑solving, independent work capability, and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• US Coast Guard MMC Chief Engineer license.
• STCW Basic Training and OICEW.
• TWIC credential.
• Proficiency with maritime engineering systems, especially electrical systems.
• Familiarity with jet‑drive marine engines (desired).
• Experience with autonomous or unmanned marine systems (desired).
• Software engineering knowledge (desired).
