About the role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing service team in Columbia, SC. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of complex commercial HVAC systems while delivering top‑tier customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment including DX systems, packaged water‑cooled units, water‑source heat pumps, CRAC units, and gas‑ or electric heating systems.
- Perform equipment startups, verify proper operation, and monitor performance using gauges, controls, and instrumentation.
- Adjust valves, pumps, and controls to optimize system efficiency and conduct preventative maintenance such as coil cleaning, fan belt replacement, and ductwork cleaning.
- Install electrical wiring, connect HVAC components, and complete startup services for newly installed equipment.
- Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate job status with dispatch throughout the day.
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional appearance and clean work environment.
Required profile
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school certification.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (required).
- Minimum 4 years of commercial HVAC service experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills on commercial HVAC equipment and controls.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation for emergency service.
Required skills
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification
- Experience with DX systems up to 100 tons
- Packaged water‑cooled air‑conditioning units up to 150 tons
- Water‑source heat pumps
- CRAC units with humidifiers and controls
- Gas‑fired and electric heating systems up to 150 tons
- Pneumatic, electronic, and DDC control systems
- Air handling units and VAV systems
- Electrical wiring installation and HVAC component connections
