About the role
The Cleanroom Safety & Process Engineer will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Kostas Center’s cleanroom and high‑hazard (H5) environments, managing toxic and flammable gas systems, chemical inventory, and regulatory coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Act as facility safety officer, maintaining compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA 318, SEMI S2/S8 and other regulations.
- Maintain and calibrate continuous toxic gas monitoring systems, lead quarterly safety audits, and manage chemical hygiene plans and hazardous waste streams.
- Perform daily inspections of H5 rooms, operate and maintain cleanroom process tools, and develop preventive‑maintenance schedules and lockout/tagout protocols.
- Coordinate gas deliveries, cylinder change‑outs, and vendor relationships for tool service and upgrades.
- Develop and deliver training programs on cleanroom safety, equipment use, and emergency response.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in cleanroom process engineering or microfabrication.
- SCBA certification or ability to obtain it, with on‑call availability for emergencies.
- Strong understanding of cleanroom safety protocols, chemical hygiene, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Required skills
- Microfabrication techniques: etching (wet/dry), thin‑film deposition, lithography.
- Hazardous gas systems management, including gas cabinets and toxic gas monitoring.
- Use of gas monitoring technologies such as FTIR, electrochemical sensors, and colorimetric detection.
- Experience with safety standards (OSHA, EPA, NFPA 318, SEMI S2/S8) and SOP development.
