About the role
The role focuses on developing and implementing material models to predict microstructure, phase change, and residual stress in high‑energy metal additive manufacturing processes.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct experimental research related to additive manufacturing.
- Perform theoretical research and numerical modeling.
- Write grant applications and journal papers.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
Required profile
- Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Ability to undertake substantial full‑time research under the supervision of a senior scholar.
- Strong grasp of continuum mechanics, cohesive zone, and crystal plasticity.
Required skills
- Abaqus (commercial FEA package) and user subroutines.
- Python scripting.
- Numerical implementation of plasticity and cohesive zone modeling.
