Claims Representative - Workers Compensation

About the role

Sedgwick is looking for a driven Claims Representative for Workers Compensation in Ontario, California. The role applies knowledge of workers' compensation and supervision to adjudicate complex customer claims, working with clients across many industries. The position is on-site at the Ontario, CA office.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process complex or technically difficult general liability claims, investigating and gathering information to determine exposure and benefits due.
• Manage claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution, and manage the litigation process to ensure timely, cost-effective resolution.
• Coordinate vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.
• Lead team meetings, assign accountability for follow-up items and gather compliance and claims-processing information for team meetings.
• Assist in interviews of adjusters and clerical staff and give feedback to the hiring manager.
• Support the team lead with monthly reviews of adjuster workloads, noting trends and suggesting adjustments; the role may include up to three direct reports.
• Supervisory duties: administer company personnel policies, interview, hire and develop colleagues, hold performance discussions, and provide leadership and motivation.

Required profile

• 5 years of claims management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Nationwide jurisdiction knowledge and required licensing.
• Ability to handle work-related stress, multiple priorities and deadlines, with clear thinking, judgment and discretion.
