Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster in Ontario, California, working on a hybrid basis (2 days in the office, 3 days remote). The role analyzes workers' compensation claims on behalf of clients to determine benefits due, while keeping claims adjudicated within service expectations, industry best practices and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process claims through action plans, investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.
• Negotiate settlements of claims within designated authority.
• Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.
• Report claims to the excess carrier and respond to requests for direction in a professional and timely manner.

Required profile

• 4 years of claims management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• California workers' compensation claims handling experience; SIP certification preferred.
• Professional certification applicable to the line of business preferred.

Required skills

• Clear and conceptual thinking, judgment, problem-solving and analysis.
• Ability to handle work-related stress, multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Computer keyboarding and travel as required.
