Claims Attorney

About the role

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking a Claims Attorney to join its Atlanta office. Under the supervision of the Senior Claims Operations Manager, you will evaluate and manage liability claims, conduct investigations, and negotiate settlements for professional liability policies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the litigation process for claims to minimize company risk.
• Analyze coverage issues, conduct investigations, and assess the validity of moderately complex claims.
• Prepare and draft legal correspondence to parties involved via mail, fax, or electronic means.
• Maintain accurate physical and electronic claim files.
• Communicate claim status, information requests, and payment decisions to agents, claimants, and attorneys.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.
• Assign claims to outside counsel, manage the process, and approve billing in line with company policy.
• Negotiate claim settlements within authorized limits and conduct legal research.

Required profile

• Limited experience in claims handling or related legal work.
• Ability to follow work plans, meet deadlines, and manage multiple assignments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented with the capacity to maintain organized claim files.
