Civil Construction Supervisor

About the role

The Civil Construction Supervisor leads field crews on civil construction projects, ensuring safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery of site development, roadway, and infrastructure work. This position works closely with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet VDOT specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead field crews in daily civil construction activities.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate work to meet project schedules and deadlines.
• Interpret and execute project plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Ensure all work complies with VDOT standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Monitor productivity, quality, and workmanship on‑site.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies.
• Track labor, equipment, and material usage.
• Identify and resolve field issues proactively to avoid delays.
• Maintain accurate daily reports on progress, crew activities, and site conditions.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools.

Required profile

• Proven supervising experience in heavy civil construction.
• Proficiency with construction management software such as ProCore and Bluebeam.
• Experience with grading, utilities, drainage, paving, or roadway construction.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols specific to civil projects.
• Strong management abilities to supervise teams while fostering collaboration.
