Child Welfare Services Case Manager (Level 1)

About the role

Join the Georgia Department of Human Services as a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1, providing investigative and comprehensive case management for children and adults experiencing abuse or neglect. This full‑time position is based in Ludowici, Long County, and reports to the Child Welfare Services Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment, conduct assessments, and develop safety plans.
• Locate children and families when contact is not initially possible and implement Solution Based Casework.
• Partner with families to create and follow Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Identify and address physical, educational, mental health, and behavioral needs of children, parents, and foster parents.
• Establish and pursue permanency goals, ensuring stable foster care placements and sibling reunification when appropriate.
• Document case activities within policy timeframes and maintain regular visits to ensure safety and well‑being.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of the agency’s standard testing protocol for the position.
• Ability to travel for work‑related duties, including after‑hours on‑call service.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to state regulations.
