Child Welfare Services Case Manager – Georgia DHS

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to join the Division of Family & Children Services in Appling, Columbia County. This entry‑level position provides investigative and comprehensive case management for children and adults experiencing abuse or neglect, supporting the agency’s mission to strengthen families across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts, and create family functioning agreements.
• Collaborate with community partners to build support systems and ensure adequate visitation frequency.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster caregivers.
• Establish and pursue permanency goals, ensuring stable foster placements and sibling reunification when appropriate.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of the agency’s standard testing protocol for the position.
• Ability to use a privately owned vehicle for work‑related travel, including transportation of children.
• Willingness to serve on after‑hours on‑call duty and adapt to telework requirements as needed.
