Child Welfare Services Case Manager – Adoption Focus

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 specializing in adoptions. This full‑time position in Valdosta will provide investigative and comprehensive case management for children and families experiencing abuse, neglect, or placement needs.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts, and coordinate placement decisions.
• Partner with children and parents to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster parents.
• Establish and pursue permanency goals, ensuring stable foster care placements consistent with the Adoptions and Safe Families Act.
• Maintain children’s connections to community, faith, school, and extended family.
• Document case activities within policy timeframes and serve on after‑hours on‑call duty.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of the agency’s standard testing protocol for the position.
