Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to join the Division of Family & Children Services in Statesboro, Bulloch County. The role reports to the Child Welfare Services Supervisor and focuses on protecting vulnerable children and supporting families.

Key responsibilities

• Initiates timely, face‑to‑face responses to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conducts assessments that identify and address safety concerns.
• Develops and implements safety plans, conducts search efforts to locate children/families, and utilizes Solution Based Casework.
• Partners with children and parents to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans and Family Plans, and completes genograms to identify support networks.
• Collaborates with community partners to provide systems of support and ensures adequate visit frequency and quality for safety, permanency and well‑being.
• Identifies physical, educational and mental health needs of children, parents and foster parents and ensures they are addressed.
• Establishes permanency goals, monitors foster care stability, and works toward timely permanency consistent with the Adoption and Safe Families Act.
• Maintains children’s connections to community, faith, extended family and school, and promotes positive relationships with biological parents.
• Documents case management activities within policy time frames and may use a privately owned vehicle for work‑related travel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of the agency’s standard testing protocol for the position.
