Chief of Staff, Development & Strategic Initiatives

About the role

As Chief of Staff to the Co‑Heads of Development, you will act as the strategic operator behind one of the organization’s most critical functions, driving execution across a 30‑plus person fundraising team and ensuring seamless coordination across departments.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the CEO’s liaison to the fundraising team by managing priorities and requests to prioritize focus.
• Interact professionally with high‑net‑worth individuals and donors, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
• Coordinate meeting agendas to ensure timely preparation with actionable outcomes.
• Oversee all reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) for internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Handle approval processes for various projects and documents.
• Create and modify existing SOPs for the department.
• Lead onboarding of new team members.
• Manage internal workflows for event success, including timeline oversight, day‑of CEO coordination, and post‑event follow‑up.
• Support the supervisory team on any project needed, embracing a servant‑leadership mindset.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in fundraising, development operations, strategic initiatives, or organizational leadership.
• Experience managing teams, projects, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational and project‑management abilities.
• Strategic thinker able to anticipate second‑ and third‑order effects.
• Proven problem‑solver with an entrepreneurial drive.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Self‑starter with high ethical standards and alignment with the organization’s worldview.
• Excellent time‑management and flexibility to handle diverse responsibilities.
• Willingness to travel 15‑20% of the time.
• Ability to manage up and provide strategic input to the executive team.
