Chief Building Inspector

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a senior professional to lead building inspection activities for its Broward Operations in Florida. The Chief Building Inspector will act as the primary liaison between municipal clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with mechanical and building codes.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate technical information to owners, contractors, and municipal staff, tailoring messages to each audience.
• Respond to inquiries and enforce compliance with mechanical codes, issuing correction notices as needed.
• Conduct on‑site inspections and review plans for commercial and residential projects to verify code conformance.
• Collaborate with multiple client jurisdictions to coordinate processes, resolve conflicts, and support timely decision‑making.
• Participate in code interpretation discussions and provide guidance to developers, architects, and engineers.

Required profile

• State of Florida license: Registered Architect (RA), Professional Engineer (PE), Plan Review License (PX), or Inspector License (BN) in building.
• At least 10 years of supervisory experience within the Florida Building Code/High Velocity Hurricane Zone.
• Possession of a General Contractor’s license with ten years of mechanical master or journeyman experience is acceptable.
• Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related construction regulations.

Required skills

• Plan review and inspection expertise for residential and commercial structures.
• Ability to interpret and apply code regulations to project proposals and ongoing construction.
• Strong oral and written communication for preparing correction notices and technical reports.
