Chemical Manufacturing Engineer (Cordova, IL)

About the role

The Chemical Manufacturing Engineer will join 3M’s manufacturing team in Cordova, Illinois, collaborating with cross‑functional groups worldwide to enhance product cost, service, quality, and safety. The role focuses on continuous improvement, development of production standard operating procedures, and leading process safety initiatives in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Work with cross‑functional teams to improve product cost, service, and quality.
• Drive productivity gains through continuous improvement activities.
• Write, maintain, and improve production standard operating procedures.
• Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, maintain material balances, and manage waste reduction projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of engineering experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Experience as a Chemical Engineer in a chemical‑based manufacturing facility.
• Experience with reactor systems.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
