Mechanical Designer – Tyler, TX

About the role

DXP is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its Tyler, TX team. You will work on new engine model generations, improve existing designs, and collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication teams to ensure feasible and cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials for rotating equipment parts and assemblies.
• Develop design strategies, calculate cost estimates, and prepare reports that include labor, material, delivery, and overhead costs.
• Interface daily with design team members, project managers, shop floor staff, and quality control personnel.
• Consult with fabrication teams during manufacturing, providing design specifications and hands‑on assistance.
• Maintain design documentation and ensure compliance with company standards.

Required profile

• 2‑year degree in Drafting Technology or Engineering Graphics (preferred but not required).
• At least 4000 hours of experience with SolidWorks.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Flexible, adaptable, self‑motivated, and eager to learn.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (including design tables, weldments, and routing).
• SolidWorks certifications such as CSWA or CSWP (preferred).
• Proficiency with CAD tools.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
