CEO - Fully Remote

About the role

Fair Trade USA, a fully remote social enterprise of about 144 employees, is looking for its next CEO. Its certification and partner network generates more than $80 million annually in community development funds for farmers, workers and fishers, and the CEO will lead the effort to expand buyer and consumer demand so that Fair Trade Certified becomes more meaningful and accessible to consumers and more valuable to brands and retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Build an integrated growth engine linking integrity and measurable impact to consumer trust, greater value for brands and retailers, increased demand and greater producer and worker impact.
• Strengthen Fair Trade Certified as a consumer movement, building relationships with consumers who trust and advocate for Fair Trade Certified products.
• Ensure the organization understands and continuously improves the processes that drive its impact, measures what works and allocates people and resources to the greatest opportunities.
• Lead the organization remotely, building genuine relationships, trust and engagement across a distributed workforce.

Required profile

• Proven C-suite executive leadership with a track record of organizational performance in high-growth environments.
• Strong financial acumen and P&L ownership, with demonstrated success managing large budgets and driving sustained year-on-year revenue growth.
• Experience building or scaling a consumer brand or certified product, including earning and holding shelf space.
• Ability to build an effective leadership team and drive accountability.
• US-based or able to work with primary presence in the US market, with extensive travel.
• Preferred: experience in Fair Trade, responsible sourcing or certification, sustainability and assurance, consumer products or retail, social enterprise leadership, sales and partner development, board and governance relationships, and remote organization experience.
