CDL‑A Truck Driver – Local Routes

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a CDL‑A driver for local city delivery and pickup routes from its Meriden, CT service center. The position is full‑time, Monday‑Friday with various shifts, offering an hourly rate of $33.75 and the benefit of returning home each night. Paid time off becomes available after the first 90 calendar days, and employees enjoy access to company‑owned vacation resorts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform city delivery and pickup of freight, returning to the terminal daily.
• Make multiple stops per workday while using scanning equipment to track shipments.
• Interact directly with customers to ensure accurate and timely service.
• Complete lift‑gate deliveries using an electric pallet jack when required.

Required profile

• Valid CDL Class A with at least one year of verifiable Class A driving experience within the past three years.
• Clean driving record (MVR/PSP) with no serious violations and no more than three moving violations in the past three years.
• Age 23 (or 21 if meeting FMCSA military‑to‑civilian transition criteria).
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment DOT physical, drug screen, and road test.
• Physical capability to bend, lift, and stoop without difficulty.
• Dependable and able to operate equipment safely at all times.
• Preferred: endorsements for doubles/triples, tanker, haz‑mat; experience with haz‑mat, LTL, local delivery, and electric pallet jack operation.
