CDL Class 8 Tanker Driver - Chemical Distribution

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a safety-focused CDL driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution in the Saint Clairsville area. The driver operates Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including liquid and dry products, with reliable schedules, regular home time and late-model, well-maintained trucks.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a power unit (Class 8 tractor and lower) for chemical distribution, moving materials to customers, vendors, within plants and between branches
• Perform bulk deliveries of liquids and solids, and packaged deliveries in drums, IBCs, pallets and supersacks, including loading and unloading with pumps and air
• Manage the full process: transport, transfer, delivery, securement and paperwork
• Comply with DOT, OSHA and site rules, including placarding, pre-inspection, daily logs and reporting repairs
• Care for assigned equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, cameras and tracking units, and keep it clean and in good working order
• Stay in contact with the supervisor or dispatcher for delivery instructions

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED or US military experience; chemical delivery experience may be considered
• Class A CDL with Tanker, Bulk and/or Hazmat endorsement, current DOT medical card, and TWIC card or proof of application if required
• Ability to drive a manual transmission and to wear a respirator if required
• Local to the area (within 60 miles); no lodging provided
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends, and to perform warehouse duties
• English reading and writing, basic math, and ability to use devices such as smartphones and Samsara
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, push or pull up to 150 pounds, climb ladders and load hazardous material

Required skills

• Pallet jack certification (electric or manual)
• Forklift certification preferred, plus dock locks and levelers
• DOT fit-for-duty exam and pre-employment drug screen and background check
