About the role

The American Antiquarian Society seeks a forward‑thinking, detail‑oriented Cataloger to join its cataloging department. The role involves original and copy cataloging of 18th‑21st century printed materials and ongoing metadata maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging using AACR2, RDA, DCRM(B), LC‑PCC policies, and controlled vocabularies such as LCSH, RBMSCV, and AAT.
• Edit and enhance existing catalog records and participate in departmental projects, inventories, and stack shifting.
• Maintain awareness of changes to national and international cataloging standards and contribute to the Society’s strategic plan and DEIA commitments.

Required profile

• 2+ years of related cataloging experience and a Master’s degree in library/information systems or equivalent.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Familiarity with AACR2, RDA, MARC, and descriptive cataloging of rare materials.
• Knowledge of LC Name Authority File (LCNAF), Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and other controlled vocabularies.
• Experience with an integrated library system such as FOLIO and OCLC Connexion Client.

What we offer

• Salary range $45,000‑$50,000 per year (approximately $24.73‑$27.47/hour).
