Cargo Coordinator - McMurdo Station

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Cargo Coordinator to support its SafeUp program and coordinate all cargo movements to and from deep field camps and/or South Pole Station. The role acts as the McMurdo Station liaison for field camp resupply, including grantee resupply, and works closely with the Movement Control Center (MCC) and USAP cargo personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate general cargo, science group cargo, passengers and cargo returning from camps
• Communicate by radio and telephone with field camp supervisors to coordinate resupply and cargo priorities, and give daily updates on cargo issues
• Provide daily cargo priority lists to the MCC for aircraft mission load planning and communicate daily with MCC load planners
• Help organize inventories, general organization and mapping of field camp cargo staged in McMurdo
• Initiate Discrepancy Reports (DISREPS) for flights with cargo or passenger manifest discrepancies
• Research and correct field camp shipping number discrepancies and labeling errors in the cargo tracking system
• Assist with science cargo processing as required
• Forward field camp project "call forward" requests to the MCC supervisor
• Comply with ASC ESH, waste management, quality assurance and other requirements

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years of experience in customer service, administrative duties, reporting and/or data management
• Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods, with medical, dental, drug screening, background checks and US citizenship (required for facility credentials)
• Valid US driver's license
• Ability to lift and move items up to safety limits, climb in and out of equipment, crawl and work outdoors in extreme cold
• Participation in community programs such as house-mouse, cleaning, recycling and safety objectives

Required skills

• Organizational and data management skills
• Preferred: one year of experience in remote cargo/supply logistics planning or one summer in transportation and logistics
• Familiarity with aircraft load planning and hazardous materials transport regulations preferred
