Cardiac Surgery APRN/PA (PRN) Position

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Cardiac Surgery team on a PRN (as‑needed) basis. This day‑shift, onsite position supports surgical procedures and postoperative care for cardiac patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pre‑operative assessment and optimization of cardiac surgery patients.
• Assist the cardiac surgeon during operative cases, including intra‑operative monitoring.
• Manage postoperative care, including ICU and step‑down unit responsibilities.
• Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• Current APRN or PA licensure in the United States.
• Demonstrated experience in cardiac surgery or a related cardiovascular setting.
• Eligibility to work in the United States on day one of employment.
• Availability to work on an as‑needed (PRN) schedule.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficiency in patient assessment and peri‑operative management.
• Ability to assist in surgical procedures and operate relevant equipment.
• Strong documentation and electronic health record skills.
