Capital Delivery Professional Engineer

About the role

The City of Fort Worth Water Capital Delivery team is seeking a Professional Engineer to lead capital improvement projects for water and wastewater infrastructure. You will manage design, construction, and contract administration while ensuring compliance with state environmental regulations. This full‑time position offers a dynamic, fast‑paced environment serving over one million residents.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as project manager for capital water improvement projects.
• Interpret design requirements established by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
• Provide technical leadership to engineering technicians and staff on water and wastewater engineering matters.
• Supervise, coordinate, direct, and monitor the section’s day‑to‑day activities.
• Coordinate with Field Operations staff to resolve construction‑related issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Four (4) years of civil engineering experience as a registered Professional Engineer, including two (2) years of project management for water and wastewater projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Texas (or ability to obtain within six months).
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities; excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience in municipal government or public‑sector development projects is preferred.
